About The Symposium
East Africa’s cities are transforming at an unprecedented pace. Rapid urbanization, climate shocks, informal settlement growth, and shifting governance landscapes are redefining what it means to live, work and plan in the region’s urban centres.
This three-day symposium, convened by the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus East Africa Research Network (LEARN) and hosted at the University of Rwanda in Kigali, brings together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and community actors to exchange knowledge, reflect on practice, and co-develop pathways for more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient urban neighbor hoods in East Africa.
